IT Support is available Monday to Friday 09.00–17.00 (18.00 in Holborn) during term time. Outside these hours Library & Information Service staff will be happy to provide basic IT support.

Technical requirements
Internet browser
Blackboard is a browser based system so please check if your browser is compatible.
We recommend you set your screen resolution to 1280 x 1024. However, other resolutions should work fine – contact IT support if your resolution is creating problems.
Your browser also needs to be configured to allow pop-ups – contact IT support at the above email addresses if you need help.
Components
If any of these components are missing you may not be able to log in, or use some of the advanced features of Blackboard:
- Your browser must support JavaScript
- Your Internet browser should be set to allow Cookies
- You should have a Java runtime environment (JRE) installed - this is needed for some tools, e.g. the Virtual Classroom
Optional Components
These are not required to use the Blackboard VLE, but may be needed to display certain content types (particularly audio and video files)
- You should have Macromedia Flash Player version 9 or more recent installed
- You should have Shockwave player version 10 or more recent
- It is recommended you have Windows Media Player installed
- It is recommended you have RealPlayer installed
- It is recommended you have Apple QuickTime Player installed
- It is recommended you have a separate Scaleable Vector Graphic Viewer installed - if you are using the FireFox browser you don't need one, as it has built in support for SVG images
Common Third Party File Types
Many course documents in College are in Adobe PDF or Microsoft Office format. To see if you are affected, try downloading these sample files:
